Home Refresh For Every Room

If you ever needed an excuse to refresh your home, then January is the time to do it.  The internet is saturated with ideas and tips to declutter and renew your home.  I’m a bit of a neat freak anyway so I love to declutter and refresh my home.

Even if you find it a huge task and can think of other ways to spend your valuable time, I promise you, not only will your home look and feel better it actually plays a big part in making us feel better too, it unclutters our mind and helps us make better decisions whilst bringing order and calm to our homes.

So let’s dive in and look at ways to refresh and renew our homes!

Kitchen Refresh

clean and fresh white kitchen cupboards and tiles with black accessories

I think the kitchen is one area in your home that can easily get messy, there’s a lot goes on in this space, cooking, baking, kids homework perhaps and in my own case sometimes a bit of a dumping ground for things like post, keys and stuff just ends up in here which makes my eye start to twitch lol. After dinner when the washing up is done and the dishwasher is loaded I like to clear the decks. That’s when I can relax and enjoy the rest of the evening, it just feels so good to come down in the morning to a lovely clean kitchen.

Editing our cupboards and using pretty but functional containers to store food items really makes a difference, especially if you don’t have a lovely walk-in pantry.  You will find plenty to choose from on Amazon or Ikea but see the link for best kitchen organisers from Ideal Home

Getting rid of clutter on worktops and add a few well curated pieces that bring you joy as well as being practical and functional.

A walk in pantry is the dream and having it well stocked and organised will make everything feel more organised especially with a busy morning schedule.

Bedroom Refresh

If you’ve ever stood gazing in your wardrobe in the mornings, wondering what to wear and feeling totally uninspired by how things look in there try to re-organise your wardrobe or dressing room.  Why not create a little boutique style by displaying your shoes and bags, colour co-ordinate your clothes and group them together i.e. shirts, blouses and jackets, keeping long items together. I also like to hang dark colours to light colours. Don’t forget to show your clothes some love and invest in wooden hangers, a steamer is really useful as well as a de-bobbler.

Make it feel like you're shopping in your very own favourite boutique by paying attention to how you style out your shelving .  Make it as individual as you are.  If you would love this to happen but don’t have the time to do it then hire a professional who can make this happen for you.  This will make getting dressed and ready for the day super easy and time saving.  No more wondering what to wear eh?

It’s a good time to buy new bedlinen in the sales this is something you won’t regret especially if you invest on more luxurious pieces. Monogramming is a thing at the moment and adds some luxury to your space.  Think of creating your very own 5* bedroom with all the luxuries you deserve.  There’s nothing quite like fresh luxurious sheets and an amazing scented candle to uplift you.

Bathroom Refresh

It’s out with the old and in with the new to keep your beauty routine in tip top condition.

Get rid of old bottles and containers of stuff that you no longer need. Add new storage inside your cupboards or drawers of your vanity unit to make life simple.  Group items you use every day for easy access, this can be displayed on your vanity on a beautiful tray.

Invest in some new fluffy towels, (who doesn’t love that) a new scented candle or a diffuser for a spa like feel to your bathroom.

Is there anything else you think you could add or take away from the room?  Maybe a new laundry basket (preferably with a lid),  adding foliage is another way to upgrade your space with structure.

Living Room Refresh

January can be so dull especially when you’ve been used to twinkly lights and decorations during Christmas. As much as it’s nice to clean the house and start fresh for the new year, there’s just always something missing from the living room, it looks so bare and unloved. Placing some fresh flowers or greenery like eucalyptus to vases makes the space feel more vibrant.

Think of ways you can enhance what you already have.  Maybe swap table lamps in this room with lamps from another room.  Re-jig your accessories, I love to have a great arsenal of accessories that you can add to refresh the space.  Think about doing the same with your artwork or maybe you would like to add something new to the space.

Dining Room Refresh

Replace old place mats and try some new table linen and napkins.  I love to pre set the table in the dining room so that it’s always ready to eat from.  The charger plate, dinner plate, bowl etc., which can be used at breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I simply replace them when they are used and cleaned and instead of putting them away I reset the table.  It may sound like hard work but the table is always set, and looks beautiful it also means we tend to spend some time with our family at the table instead of always rushing our meals and on to the next thing, it’s nice to take time to eat and enjoy the company and decor.

Adding dinner candles or a centrepiece is my thing and I just love creating something beautiful, it doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive.  Flowers from the supermarket arranged in a beautiful vase or bowl works a treat, a faux arrangement and of course tall elegant candles always looks chic.

Laundry Room Refresh

I remember when my family were all at home, I felt I was never out of the laundry room with my head in the washing machine or tumble dryer, ironing etc., and it was one place I felt should  be made pretty so that at least I could enjoy being there.

Decanting washing powder/pods into beautiful containers (high enough away from children of course - safety first) adding baskets to fold away linen.  Using wallpaper, even artwork and plants is another way to make it feel upgraded. If you spend a lot of time in here, let your creativity flow and make it a happy place.

I hope you've found this useful I know how busy you are and if this all sounds lovely but just way too much to do on top of an already busy schedule, you know I can help with that.
