How To Achieve Liveable Luxury In Your Home

“Liveable luxury” refers to a style of living that combines high-end or luxurious amenities with comfort, practicality and functionality,  reflecting a desire for both elegance and convenience of daily life.

So what does that mean to you and how do you achieve it?  Let me paint a picture of living in a liveable luxury home.

Creating a home that looks and feels amazing as soon as you enter, feels like you’ve just stepped into the lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of and caters for your every need and want.

From the moment you place your keys in a dish on the console table, hang your coat, and sit in the chair or bench to take off your shoes.

The lighting and colour that creates the perfect ambience which instantly relaxes you at the end of a long day.

The textiles used on your sofa and soft furnishings caress you, a coffee table or side table to place your drink with ease.  Placing your feet on a footstool, cuddling up with your loved ones and pets without worrying about marks or stains.  Every colour, texture and material is used to enhance your senses to create a feeling of well being.

The plush carpet or flooring under your feet that is also hardwearing to withstand your busy working household.  The exquisite bedlinen that envelopes you as you drift off to sleep in utter bliss.

Bathrooms echo all the finishing touches of a luxurious spa where you start and end your day wrapped in fluffy towels that feel wonderful on the skin.  Scents to enliven or relax, every cosmetic and daily ritual taken care of behind well organised cabinetry and storage solutions for your every need.

A kitchen that makes the start to your day run smoothly, from the coffee you sip in the morning to all the amenities that make life so simple.  Instant hot water from your Quooker tap, perfectly chilled wines and a well stocked pantry that looks insta worthy.

How

It’s all in the detail

Any good interior designer will know that it’s all about the little details. Layering furniture pieces to elevate your home. Sofa cushions, plants, decorative accessories and area rugs are all examples of incorporating interesting details in the home that speak to you. Adding that personal touch with items that mean something to you that tell a little bit about you and if you get the balance right, this can make your home epitomise liveable luxury rather than look tacky and hoarded with personal items.

Muted Tones

Using muted or neutral tones can bring a soothing feel to any bedroom or living space, the pops of colour accents can be uplifting. Decide what you would like your colour scheme to be. Keep it simple and try and focus on two or three colours. Start with a neutral base colour then add detailed colourful elements to the room.

Accessories

Add interesting details that add texture and balance.

Indulging the senses

To truly achieve a luxurious home environment that is liveable, you need to feel comfortable, it is your home after all!  Adding cashmere blankets to cuddle on the sofa with as well as throws to your bed to have the ultimate soft sleep. Add a bouquet of flowers to your centrepiece to brighten up your day and burn that Jo Malone candle to have a gorgeous smelling home that stimulates the senses.

Indulging the senses

Add the bouquet of flowers to your living room and light the beautifully scented candle.

Luxurious and Lasting Fabrics

There’s no doubt that an elegant pair of curtains will set the tone of the room,  choosing a fabric for your sofa should be durable as well as feel beautiful to the touch.  I prefer to use a rub test or martindale test (basically means the durability of the fabric, the higher it is the better it will be) 50 to 100 for upholstery.  Nowadays you can have fabric that is extremely liveable, even permanent marker washes off with ease.

The words liveable luxury may at first feel contradictory, a luxury home may conjure up thoughts of high maintenance and upkeep but this is far from the case, it simply means choosing items, materials and finishes for your home that will last, work with your style of living and yes of course still feel and look luxurious.

Liveable luxury is individual and unique to how you perceive it, it doesn’t necessarily mean buying designer items or big name tags, it shouldn’t be something that you’re afraid to touch and only use on special occasions.  It could be the type of coffee you use that’s prepared by an extravagant coffee machine that you couldn’t part with, or the silk pillowcase that feels like you’re sleeping on a fluffy cloud.

Start where you are and whatever brings you so much joy and happiness that it feels amazing to wake up every day in your home.

I believe we all deserve a little luxury in our lives and to have the ability to create a sanctuary in our homes that keeps us happy, safe and loved.

Absolutely loved working with Heather. Very professional service from start to finish. Love the high end look but still a really liveable home and easy to maintain.
